Under the plan of heaven, the husband and the wife walk side by side as companions, neither one ahead of the other, but a daughter of God and a son of God walking side by side.

On of my favorite wedding photos.

January 25, 2003!

So in love.

Look how young we were!

We have been married for 5 years!! Can you believe it? Yesterday mom came over and babysat. We went out to Beni Hana and then to the Jazz game. It was great. We are so in love with eachother. Isaac is such a great husband. He is always looking for ways to help our family reach our potential. He's a wonderful head of the family. (Plus, he is so dang good looking!!) Here's to 5 wonderful years! I'm looking forward to eternity. Oh, and of corse I forgot the camera, so I don't have any pictures of yesterday. DANG IT!

5 kids and a headache!

Anya Olivia Vazquez (2 weeks old!)

Emerson (3), David (2), Erin (3) and Capri (16 months)

Isaac dreaming of the next baby.

So, yesterday, my friend Paige had to go to class. Her mother-in-law usually watches her 3 kids, but she couldn't so she asked me if I could. For 5 hours, I got a taste of what it would be like if I had 5 kids. (Of course I would never have them this close together!) It was crazy. My house is still recovering. Isaac loved holding baby Anya and the kids actually played okay with eachother. Nobody got hurt and everyone got fed and entertained. (As you can see in the pictures, both my kids went without pants, but that's okay.) Good job to all you Mothers out there who have more than 3 kids! (Tara, I can see why your blog hardly ever get updated.) IF I ever have 5 kids, expect an update about every 6 months or so! Enjoy the video. I think it's pretty cute. They were all having a tea party together. (Except Emerson, who wanted to hit everybody with the wrapping paper tube.)

Did I ever mention that bath time at our house is an EVENT? The kids have never really had a bath tub. We only have a shower, but the shower needed to be replaced, so we are using the bathtub upstairs. The kids LOVE it. I have to talk them out of staying in there all night long. It is so cute. So I thought I'd also try out a video.

Wow, it is just coming down out there. So, the new digital camera that we got for Christmas, has a "snow" feature. So, I just had to try it out. I think that pictures turned out great. Stella's mom is coming to pick up Stella in an hour or so, so Isaac went out to shovel and there is so much snow! I can't believe how much there is. I'm so glad that Isaac had the day off work so that he could shovel it! We'll have to get the kids up and let them play in the snow when they wake up from there naps!

Cool shot of all the snow in the back yard.
Look how much snow! We had to literally dig the car out.
Yes, I know they are really full. (Garbage day is tomorrow.)

So, just another update. I have stopped watching Ben. I will miss him. He's been such a part of our lives. Madison (Ben's mom) finished school and is now starting her new job search, which will probably be out of state. :-( So, I have started watching a little girl named Stella. Her mom used to work for me, but finished school and now works at a dental clinic. She is such a little sweetheart! She is a couple months younger than Capri, but is so good tempered. I only watch her twice a week. The kids love having her around and Isaac can't wait for her to warm up to him, because she is such a sweet baby. (She cries if he even gets to close!)

Best Buddies

So, it's official . . . Emerson has picked his "best buddy." Mom and I were at lunch the other day and Emerson wrapped his arms around her neck and said "Your my best buddy in the whole world!" It was so cute! I'm a little jealous, but I'm glad that he loves his grandma so much. (I think it was love at first sight . . . for both of them.

Home again!

Yesterday Emerson responded so well from the steroids that he really started to improve. They gave us the option to either stay at the hospital for observation, or to go home and return if anything went wrong. Since we are literally 5 min. from the hospital, we decided to go home. Emerson did great last night and has done great this morning as well. I think it's best for him to be at home. Besides having to give him medicine every 4 hours, we slept wonderfully last night. Capri and Emerson really missed each other because they have played very well together and they seem to always be playing together. We have an appointment with his pediatrician on Thursday and then the Ear Nose and Throat specialist on Friday. Then, we will have a better picture of when they will do the surgery. It's still very hard to get him to eat and drink anything, but he is willing to try if I threaten that he will have to go back to the hospital if he doesn't. Thank you all for everything. We felt like we had so much support. Within an hour of my e-mail sent our for help, I had the whole week taken care of for help with Capri and several offers to bring dinner or to sit with Emerson so I could have a break. We appreciate all the love and support that we have.
Emerson talking on the phone with Grandma. That always helps him feel better.
Feeling a little better the day before we went home, playing with the toys that they brought to him.
The second day at the hospital, poor thing didn't feel good at all!

Eating french fries and ice cream. They were the only things that he wanted, so we figured it was okay. (This once.)

Poor thing. This face says it all.
The day before we went home, Emerson and Capri saw each other for the first time in 4 days. They were so excited to see each other. It was really cute!

Maybe going home???

Things are looking up today. He has been very energetic today. (A visit from Grandma and Grandpa Boren and Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Clark REALLY helped.) He's eating some, but we can't get him to drink anything. If he was drinking, they might let us go home. He can be so stubborn! He's still having fevers, but they aren't as high. We might be going home tomorrow, but we'll have to see how good today goes. I attended church today at the hospital. They had a nice little service. Then some elders visited Emerson and brought him a little blanket. He really liked that. Nana and Grandpa Boren are taking Capri tomorrow. We haven't figured out Tuesday, but hopefully he won't be there then!!! We are crossing our fingers for Monday. I guess it's hard to heal from strep, mono, and RSV all at the same time. Poor thing. They are going to do the surgery in a couple weeks. Isaac's mom is going to come down to help out. When he gets home, I have to keep a log of every day until the surgery and then they will test him to make sure he is healthy before they do the surgery to make sure the risk of infection is low. Thanks for all your support. We love you all!

The last two nights have been rough. They are having a hard time keeping his body temperature stable. One minute it's at 103 and they are surounding him with icepacks, then an hour later he's dropped to 95 and they are covering him with warming blankets. They are discussing surgery to remove his tonsils (This whole thing started with a strep throat gone wrong), but they don't want to do that until the RSV is totally gone and he's acting more stable. I'll try to keep things undated, but it's hard to get any time to visit the computer. They have a nice library here that you can use computers and get books. Thanks for all the prayers

Hard days, long nights

Emerson was admitted to Primary Children's 2 days ago. He has had a bad run of infections and it has finally taken it's toll. They have run all kinds of test, but can't figure out why he is so sick. Then, today, there was improvement! Then, tonight, he spiked another fever. :-( We have a wonderful team of doctors that is working with us, and also some specialists. They have been great. Aunt Wendy has spent some time here and has helped me make sense of all the things that they are saying. Emerson is finally asleep and I just needed a place to vent, and to let everyone know what was going on. (Sorry if I didn't call you, it all happened so fast.) Thank you for all the prayers. We will keep everyone updated.

New doctor

This was very hard for me, but with Isaac's new job, came a new insurance. We had to leave our old pediatrician behind and find a new one. We've been through a lot with our old pediatrician, so this was very hard for us. Our new doctor, Dr. Owens, was very good. She spent an entire hour with us. She is Emerson's 3rd birthday checkup and Capri's 15 month appointment at the same time. Emerson is doing great. He in the 50th percentile for height and the 50th percentile for weight. You can't get more normal than that. She said that he's very smart and is doing great. Capri on the other hand is in the 8th percentile for weight and the 20th for height. We were disappointed that she isn't 20 pounds yet, we want to turn her car seat around! She has scheduled her for another test on her kidneys at the end of the month. We are hoping that things have improved with her reflux. She also put her on a new steroid inhaler for her asthma. Hopefully this will make it easier for her to breathe and hopefully help her cough go away. People give us the worst looks when she starts coughing. (It sounds horrible.) Hopefully this works, so that we don't need to go see a specialist.

Happy New Year!!

New Year's was a blast this year. We starting it off with a trip to Harmon's and everyone got $10-$15 and got to pick out whatever food they wanted. (I got popcorn, cantaloupe and licorice.) Then we went to mom's house and played games. (Oh, and ate ourselves silly!) We were lucky enough to share the New Year with Mom and Dad, Wendy and John, and Dan. (Poor Lindsey was sick and stayed home.) We played "Eat It." (One of the best games around.) Capri fell asleep about 10pm, but Emerson lasted until about 1:30am!! He thought it was great and really enjoyed the noise makers. After the new year, mom and I were the only ones crazy enough to start a movie at 12:30am. We watched Stardust, and I thought it was really cute. I hope
everyone had a Happy New Year!
