Under the plan of heaven, the husband and the wife walk side by side as companions, neither one ahead of the other, but a daughter of God and a son of God walking side by side.

So, we closed on our new house yesterday. Holy cow, we are home owners! We don't get keys until everything funds on Wednesday, though. We are super excited to get settled. We won't be all the way moved in for another 10 days or so. We had to order all new appliances and the wall paper in the living had to go. We decided to do some painting while the house is empty. I'll post lots of pictures, once we get started on all our "projects."

I am Pathetic!

So, today I went outside, and I was cold. It was 72 degrees. Yes, I know, it's pathetic. After months on end of 100 plus degree weather, my blood is thinned and 72 felt cold. I'm going to be one of those pathetic people bundled up in a parka when it's 65 . . . .

Family Home Evening and Goblins

Today we did our family home evening. (I know it's Wednesday, but better late than never, right?) We learned that our bodies are temples. We had a picture of Capri and Emerson and then a trash can. We found all kinds of pictures of stuff and either put them with the pictures if they were good, or in the trash can if they were bad. It turned out really fun. Emerson and Capri really seemed to enjoy it. Then we made a yummy treat. We made "goblins" to eat. They were really tasty. If you want the recipe please see the Clark's Are Cookin' website on my link list. (There are a couple random pictures on here as well. I just thought they were cute!)

More Halloween Crafts

Capri usually just wants to color while Emerson and I do crafts. (In her coloring stance.) Sometimes she wants to do crafts with us.

We learned about spiders and learned that they have eight legs. I cut out a "spider" out of the number 8, then Emerson counted out 8 legs and glued them to him spider.
First, I traced a pumpkin face on yellow paper. Then Emerson outlined it the best he could. I cut it out for him.
We peeled the label off of a Diet Sunkist 2 liter pop. (Look for orange pop with a white lid.)
Emerson put glue on all the face pieces and I put them on the pop bottle.

Then Emerson colored the white lid green.

This makes a really cute gift to bring to neighbors or people that you visit teach with a plate of halloween cookies!

Sorry if you get sick of seeing pictures of my kids doing crafts. The weather is still so hot, so we don't get out much yet. Emerson is so proud of all the art projects he does and he wants me to take pictures and put them on the blog so that Grandma Boren can see them. Plus, I've had a few people ask for craft ideas for kids, so you can just look on here!

Halloween Crafts

Spooky Ginger Bread House

The frosting was a little runny, but we think it just added to the "spookyness"

Fluffy Owl

Capri helped lick the beaters

Emerson did the sprinkles

Halloween Cupcakes!!

We used to do a craft a week, but I found that the days we didn't do a craft were kind of chaos. It was really nice to have something for the kids to do for 30-60 minutes a day. So, Isaac and I decided to do a craft a day. (Yes, Isaac helps with the prep work.) We have already researched crafts for the next 3 months. (It wasn't hard, because who doesn't love doing Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas crafts?) Then, we made up a calender and wrote on each day the craft that we will be doing. (We get to take Sundays off because they usually do something fun in Primary.) Then, on Saturday Isaac and I do all the prep work for the weeks craft. We cute out anything, do copies and put them in a gallon zip lock bag. (One bag for each day.) Then all we have to do is grab a bag a day and do a craft. It has worked out great and the kids have had a blast. Sometimes we just color or paint, sometimes do a learning activity, and sometimes we cook a yummy treat. It has turned out great and it's given me a chance to use all my material from when I used to do Preschool. (If anybody needs craft ideas for kids, let me know. I know quite a bit of them!)
