The Rainforest Cafe

Yesterday after dance, we decided to take the kids to lunch at The Rainforest Cafe. Emerson LOVED it. Capri and Cade were both terrified. (Can you see the fear in Capri's eyes. She HATED it when the "storm" came.) It was pretty spendy and must be better other places because people talk about how cool it is and both Isaac and I were really not impressed. Maybe other places are cooler. (Lindsey says the one in Texas is cool.) Emerson had a WONDERFUL time, though. I'm glad he enjoyed it. We then walked around the mall and had a great time just spending time together. For dinner we went to a 50's diner and we all loved it more than the Rainforest place. The waiters all danced to certain songs and the kids loved the music and dancing at our table. There was even this great older couple that knew all these great dance moves and kept dancing. The kids loved it and we recommend that over the Rainforest Cafe. Plus it was $35 cheaper! It was a fun day. On the way home the kids fell asleep. It was 6:30pm so we decided to just let them stay asleep through the night. We regretted that decision this morning when they were up for the day at 4:30am . . . Especially since Isaac and I stayed up last night and watched a movie. (We watched The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. Um, totally depressing, good movie, but Isaac and I thought it was to sad. I recommend skipping out on this movie if you don't like being totally depressed for the night. It about The Holocaust.)

Mommy and Me

Capri and I are taking a mommy and me dance/gymnastics class. Capri LOVED it. I was surprised to see more dad's there than mom's. Very impressed with those men for taking their daughters/sons out for a fun Saturday. We will be going every Saturday for the summer. I'm excited because Capri loved it so much. He favorite part was exploration time. She loved playing with the other kids. I didn't get many photos because I was "dancing" with Capri. The cool thing is that her teacher is the same person that taught one of Emerson's sports classes during the spring semester. She's really nice and we were excited to get her as a teacher again!

Capri's Room!

BEFORE:

If you saw Capri's room before, it was pathetic. The paint choices were awful. It was dark brown and light brown. Even the ceiling was brown. When Lindsey was in town, she agreed with me that it was HIDEOUS! We had to get rid of the brown! Well, I did it! Looks so much cuter! I love it and so does Capri. She loves her "Princess room." There's still a lot to do: paint the base boards, refinish the dresser and night stand and get some artwork hung, but it does look a lot better!
Here are my thank you's:
Lindsey: Thanks for getting me started and helping me pick out paint colors. It looks great - just like you said it would.
Emerson: Thank you for bringing me cold water and keeping me company. You are a sweetheart!
Isaac and Mom: Thanks for helping with the kids. It's so hard to paint with kids!
Capri: Thank you for being so thrilled with the end result. You're so cute!
On to Emerson's room, next.

I swore I would NEVER do this . .

I swore I would NEVER do this . . . but, I have to share. We have been trying to cut back on our grocery budget, because we spend way to much on groceries. I always kind of snicker at people who visit more than one store, clip coupons, and then LOVE all the stuff they got for a steal. Well, I have turned into one of those people. I still only get ONE Sunday paper, and I only go to 3 stores that are VERY close to each other. (within 2 blocks, and Isaac goes to one of them with a list on his way home from work.) Well, times are hard and I was SOOO proud of what I spent this time around. (I have tons of meat in the freezer from the buy one get one free sale last week.) But here you go:

2 Loaves of Bread
4 lb. bag potatoes
2 cans spaghetti sauce
8 packs Ramon Noodles
3 lbs. Gala Apples
1 container whipping cream
Olive Oil
Vegetable Oil
Chocolate Chips
Peanut Butter
4 gallons Milk
Sour Cream
6 Boxes Cereal
4 Boxes Fruit Snacks
2 bags carrots
10 containers of yogurt
2 lbs. bananas
6 boxes macaroni and cheese
2 lbs. grapes
2 dozen eggs
3 mangos
2 cantaloupes
2 containers of sunscreen
6 pack paper towels
1 lb. peaches
1 lb. nectarines
6 lbs. hamburger

Total Bill: $68.98

NOT BAD AT ALL, I must say! And I even had to get some silly stuff that I usually don't need like oil, paper towels and sunscreen!

Swimming Lessons!!!

The kids had their first SWIM lessons today. They had so much fun. (They were so hyper on the way there it was painful on the ears, but we made it there and they were able to "swim away" some energy!) We had to put Emerson in a class below his actual age because he was a little behind, but it is a way better fit for him. Capri is in a class where Isaac or I have to get in the water with her. We will trade off every other week. The kids had a blast. I can't wait until next week! It was super cute to watch them swim. I couldn't get really good pictures of them in the pool because if you weren't a parent IN the pool, you had to stand behind glass. They loved it, though, and hopefully they can learn how to swim by the family reunion in August!

May Family Pictures

We attempted to get May's family pictures. I set a goal to get a family picture every month this year. We only missed Feb. because it was so stressful with the new baby, especially with him being premature. They turned out okay. The one cracks me up because all the kids are making funny faces. It made me laugh.

Shopping trip!

We had a WONDERFUL shopping trip. I am so sad that Lindsey has to leave tomorow. (I'm sad Mom has to leave on Tues., but happy I get another day with her . . .) We had a great time eating the BEST food and shopping till we dropped! It was so nice to stay at a nice hotel and Cade was so good and slept all night. He was a trooper while we shopped and hardly cried at all. He was really happy to get the full attention of 3 women. The last night we all met at Tommy Bahamas for dinner. Emerson and Capri were sooo excited to see everyone. There were these little umbrellas in all the food and the kids LOVED them. It was cute. I can't WAIT for next year's shopping drip. I think we are going to go to Dallas. I had the BEST time! I wish that I would have gotten more pictures. I was having to much fun shopping. The best part was how we stacked all the bags on the stroller. It was funny. I'll have to steal the picture off my sisters blog when she puts it on.

Some cute pictures

With my E-Bay profits, I was able to buy Cade a new high chair and jumparoo. He loves them! He looks pretty small in the, but he'll grow into them. He's still quite small for his age, but he'll catch up! Also had to throw in the cute picture of Capri on her bean bag watching TV.

Lindsey's Coming!

LINDSEY COMES TODAY!! We are super excited and Emerson had so much fun vacuuming getting ready for her. (He LOVES to vacuum) Mom comes tomorow and we start our big SHOPPING TRIP! I am so excited!!

I found Capri sleeping underneath Cade's "turtle" toy. It was really cute, she had even covered herself up with a blanket.
I made the kids eggs with cheese on top for breakfast. I went to take the laundry out of the dryer and came back to this. Capri apparently wanted more cheese. . .

We did it!

We finally got our 72-hour kits started. We still have to add lots of stuff, but we are on our way. Every week for part of family home evening we are going to add one thing - we should have them all put together in a couple months! The kids can't get enough of them, we had to clear a place for them in the locked closet . . .

Oh, and of course more pics of the sweeties! In the first picture, Cade fell asleep holding onto his little toy. It was so cute! And the other two are just cute!

Just a normal day . . .

Just enjoying the day to day. Here's what we've been up too . . .

Poor Capri cut her lips with a razor. Yes, I had them up on the shower caddy well out her reach. Did she let that stop her from getting them? No. She hit the shower wall until it fell down, then tried to "shave." Luckily we got to her pretty quick, and she only had very minor cuts. I think a lot of kids do this at some point in their lives. I remember doing it and even my dad remembers cutting himself on a razor as a child. Poor thing. Her lips are really swollen. (Looks like collagen!)

My little buddy all ready to go with me to the store.

She just LOVES to dress herself. This is what she came up with . . .

Playing with their "sticky goo" from Grandma Boren. He posed like this and asked me to send the picture to Grandma. It was so funny.

Playing in the sprinklers.

Seriously melts my heart!

Hanging out with me while I do the dishes. So cute!

The kids love the park, but it's to hot during the day. So, one day, we got up super early and were at the park at 7am! It was nice and cool and we got to play for a couple hours before it got to hot!

Emerson LOVES to make Capri giggle.

Hanging out in the pool together just being "buddies."

They were holding hands and counting to 3 then jumping in the pool. It was so cute to watch!

Finally entertained by toys!

Sliding down the slide. Emerson was catching her at the bottom. They are so cute when they are getting along!
